POTENSI EKSTRAK BUAH LADA HITAM (Piper nigrum L.,) dan PIPERIN DALAM MENINGKATKAN AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI OBAT-OBAT ANTITUBERKULOSIS
Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is a worldwide public health problem caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb). Due to poor patient compliance, there is a problem in TB treatment, namely resistance to several types of TB drugs. Currently, many clinical isolates of M.tb are resistant to anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT). This study aims to determine the effect of black pepper fruit extract (EELH) in increasing the antibacterial activity of OAT against isoniazid (INH) resistant M.tb bacteria. The extraction process of black pepper fruit using sokhlet method with 70% ethanol solvent and antituberculosis testing Bactec MGIT 960 method and the bacteria used is INH resistant M.tb. The results of this study showed that black pepper ethanol extract at a maximum concentration of 120 ppm does not have the ability or increase the activity of INH in inhibiting the growth of INH resistant M.tb bacteria but piperine at a concentration of 15 ppm can inhibit the growth of INH resistant M.tb bacteria.
