Abstract

Kersen plants are widely grown in the Paddingin village area, Sanrobone sub-district, Takalar district, which is seen along the village road as a protective plant. Kersen leaves and flowers have been shown to contain many chemical compounds that can provide pharmacological activities such as antidiabetes, anticholesterol, antibacterial, and antioxidants. Based on the survey results, it is known that diabetes, cholesterol, uric acid and blood pressure are diseases that are included in the top 10 most suffered by people in Paddingin village. So that the community needs to be educated on how to handle and prevent it by utilising the kersen plant as an alternative treatment without using chemical drugs that have side effects. The purpose of this PKM is to provide knowledge and skills of science and technology in making herbal tea from a combination of kersen leaves and flowers to PKK women partners in Paddingin village. The implementation of this PKM activity begins with a pre-test stage then counselling on the benefits of kersen and herbal tea preparations. Furthermore, training was conducted on how to make herbal tea products in teabags and packaged in pouches that were labelled for commercial value, which was practiced directly by the participants. The next stage was the hedonic test to measure the level of liking for the herbal tea products that had been made and finally the evaluation stage by conducting post tests and questions and answers. The evaluation results showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in processing kersen plants by utilising its leaves and flowers into herbal tea products that are beneficial for health. With this PKM activity, it is hoped that the PKK women of Paddingin village can make herbal tea products from kersen independently at home for their own and family medical needs and can provide entrepreneurial opportunities to help the family economy
